Scientist in the Molecular Neuroscience team with the opportunity to receive a PhD 65%

The NMI is a member of the Innovation Alliance Baden-Württemberg. It is involved in application-oriented research at the interface between the life sciences and material science. An interdisciplinary team of scientists is developing new technologies for companies and public research sponsors in the areas of Pharma and Biotech, Biomedicine and Materials Science, and Material Analysis and Electron Microscopy.

Applications are sought for a BMBF funded project „Biomarker evaluation supporting clinical translation in schizophrenia“.  In close collaboration with the University Hospital for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Tübingen, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, München, and the Central Institute of Mental Health, Mannheim, the project explores the biological function of schizophrenia biomarker candidate genes in model systems comprising induced pluripotent stem cells. The position of a Scientist in the Molecular Neuroscience team with the opportunity to receive a PhD (m/f/d) is available from Sep 1st 2021.


  • Master Degree in Neuroscience or in a related subject
  • Strong experimental skills especially in iPSC cell culture and differentiation
  • Solid working expertise in analytical, molecular neuroscience
  • Background in molecular neurosience
  • Experience with confocal microscopy, calcium imaging and the application of optogenetic reporter systems will be considered an asset
  • High attention to detail, self-motivation, initiative and dependability in an interdisciplinary team
