The NMI is a member of the Innovation Alliance Baden-Württemberg. It is involved in application-oriented research at the interface between the life sciences and material science. An interdisciplinary team of scientists is developing new technologies for companies and public research sponsors in the areas of Pharma and Biotech, Biomedicine and Materials Science, and Material Analysis and Electron Microscopy.
The area of Biomedicine and Material Sciences focuses, among other things, on the development of in vitro/ex vivo alternatives to animal testing. For the research group "Organ on Chip" we are looking for a motivated Bachelor/Master students (m/f/d), to hold student jobs as research assistant positions for up to 6 months.
The position will focus on two specific steps of the microfluidic fabrication process necessary to develop Organ on Chip systems
These will be hot embossing of chip parts as well as thermofusion bonding of said parts
The candidate will also participate in the final assembly of the microfluidic chips produced
BSc or MSc level student from the fields of Biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, polymer science, chemistry, biology or similar
Technical experience is highly desired
Creativity, ability to work in a team, structured way of working
Interest in a broad range of tasks and willingness to learn new methods
Interest in working on practice-oriented research and development tasks at the interface between materials and biology
Proficiency in either English or German
Highly motivated, competent and multidisciplinary team with scientific and technical staff
