Thesis on the topic: Electrospinning of hollow fibers for 3D cell cultures (m/f/d)
The NMI is a member of the Innovation Alliance Baden-Württemberg. It is involved in application-oriented research at the interface between life sciences and material science. An interdisciplinary team of scientists is developing new technologies for companies and public research sponsors in the areas of Pharma and Biotech, Biomedicine and Materials Science, and Material Analysis and Electron Microscopy.
The area of Biomedicine and Material Sciences focuses, among other things, on the analysis of biomaterials and their processing for biomedical applications. For the research group "Regenerative Biomaterials" we are looking for a motivated Bachelor/Master student (m/f/d) for 6 months. You will be working on exciting and challenging tasks in the field of electrospinning and 3D cell culture.
Development/Optimization of polymeric hollow fibers using electrospinning
Processing and characterization of fibers, e.g. with electron- or fluorescence microscopy
Establishing suitable methods to mix fibers and hydrogels
Establishing cell culture and cell analytics to monitor vascular cells in bioinks
Currently attending a Bachelor or Master programme in biomedical engineering, biomedical science, material sciences, medical technology or a comparable field of study
Practical experience with biological/chemical experimental studies
Practical experience with cell culture and electrospinning advantageous
Creativity, ability to work in a team, structured way of working
Interested in working on practice-oriented research and development tasks at the interface between materials and biology
High proficiency in German or English
The possibility to gain valuable practical experience in self-structured working with good supervision
Highly motivated, competent and multidisciplinary team with scientific and technical staff
